that's because in the 1960s they didn't show a couple sharing a bed on TV till later, if you notice Wilma and Fred didn't sleep in the same bed till Wilma was preggo which was the 3rd season. 1963.

No, Barney is not necessarily a virgin, nor is Betty. Perhaps she just could not have children.
