I hated Riordans ending of the Mark of Athena, so I made my own. I finished the series here, and don't hate me if it's so short. And in case you didnt know, I'm starting it when Aracne falls into Tartarus.
Arachne fell into Tartarus and then the Argo 2 burst through the roof of the cave. Everyone came out to congratulate Annabeth and they secured the Mark of Athena. Her coin started to glow in her pocket and got very warm. She took it out and she could feel a pull coming from the coin. She let the coin guide her to the back of the statue where she saw a little circle indentation in the statue. Annabeth laid the coin in the indentation and then the statue started glowing red. “Annabeth what did you do,” Shouted Percy? “I don’t know,” replied Annabeth. Then the statue burst apart creating a ripple that went around the whole Earth. Suddenly they all sensed a presence, a cold icy presence: Gaea.”What have you done,” said Gaea in an old fading voice. A hiss came from the spot where the statue had been and Gaea screamed an evil, ancient, shrill scream that sent shivers down everybody’s spine. Then, in the blink of an eye several things happened. First, the scream stopped out of nowhere. Second, Annabeth was being pulled by her ankle into Tartarus. Third, they realized she was being pulled by the webbing on her foot. Fourth, they heard a voice - that they assumed was Arachne - say, “If I die, you die.” Fifth, Percy lunged to try to save Annabeth, but missed. Finally, they were teleported to Olympus.
At Olympus, they were greeted with a sight that they had never seen before; all of the gods were smiling, however Athena wasn’t which makes sense since her daughter was just pulled into Tartarus.”Congratulations, you have just destroyed Gaea. She hasn’t gone to Tartarus, where she will regenerate and come back in a millennia, she is gone, gone forever,” Zeus said. “How do we get Annabeth back,” asked Percy choking back tears? This time Percy’s father, Poseidon spoke, “I’m afraid that is beyond our reach. You see when your clever friend, Annabeth destroyed Gaea, she also destroyed all monsters, titans and Tartarus. Your friend is a true hero, and one that will not be forgotten quickly. Alas there is nothing at all that we can do, I’m sorry.” “There must be something we can do,” said Piper putting in a little charm speak through a sob. “I’m sorry Piper, there is nothing even us gods can do,” said Aphrodite. “Other than saving your friend, is there anything we can do for you? You did save the world,” said Zeus “Actually there is. I would like two twin statues, one at Camp Half-Blood and one on Mount Olympus of Annabeth,” said Percy, clearly upset. “Yes, absolutely, it will happen. Is there anything else,” asked Zeus? “I would like to go home, actually I think we all want to,” said Leo. “If that is all I will get you home, thank you once again and I’m sorry,” said Zeus. And just like they came they were gone, each one back in their home.
Percy stayed in his room, coming out only for food and occasionally if he needed something. He was depressed. He stayed this way for weeks. Barely eating, sleeping or doing anything. His friends came over a lot trying to make him feel better. Leo brought Percy different gizmos that he made, but Percy had no idea what they were. Jason tried to play around with Percy, but Percy was in no mood to play. Percy did appreciate their effort, but he wasn’t in any mood to be around his friends. He asked his mom if she would stop his friends from coming. She protested, but she saw that this was what he really wanted.
Months passed and slowly Percy was becoming more “alive” and active. Percy went back to camp Half-Blood and checked out the statue of Annabeth. Percy also became the head sword teacher at camp Half-Blood. He never once forgot Annabeth, but life continued to go on. The gods also kept their side of the bargain and when Percy went to Olympus he saw the statue of Annabeth. Life was getting back to normal.
