That's what I was thinking... was it mandatory for everyone to have one?

I think so because when madge gives Katniss the pin she says that all tributes need to have one...or something like that. Well, Peeta never had anything with him...

It wasn't mandatory, just an option if you want to bring a little of home with you.

In the Hunger Games, he didn't have a Token.
In Catching Fire, however, he had a locket engraved with Katniss's mockingjay and her friend and family inside it to be used as a weapon against her to let Peeta die....long story...

In the first book he didn't have one and I didn't notice as much becuase it said they "could " bring a token from there district. But in catching fire katniss notices he is wereing a necklace with a mockingjay on it he said it was to match. ( but later) we find out he only brought it so he could show katniss she belonged with gale. She refuses to give into this though she loves them both but nows she only has room for one in her life. In the end it's peeta

In catching fire he had a Mockingjay locket but in Hunger Games it was not said. I assume he had a pendant.

No token of his is mentioned in The Hunger Games. It's possible he didn't have one, since they were optional not mandatory.

In Catching Fire his token was the mockingjay locket with the photos of Prim, Mrs. Everdeen and Gale in it, in order to try to persuade Katniss that she was the one who ought to survive.
