When we focused on Rue in the book, it was only for a chapter or two. There really wasn't enough time to get to know her. That's probably why poeple werent as devastated as Katniss when she died. I think why people, and Katniss herself, we're attached to Rue was because she was so much like Prim, Katniss's sister. So, when she died, Katniss felt like Rue was her sister, dying, and she had been too late to save her. Then, what really got me, was when she covered her in flowers, and sang her to sleep. I cried. I really did. So, no, I was not too attached to Rue's charactor, but I was emotional when she died because I could feel Katniss's emotions. She was too late. Like she failed Rue. Then, she was thinking of Prim. Oh, I just cried. I think it was Rue and Prim's connection, and the fact that Katniss did what she did while Rue was dying, made me like Rue.
