One of the best book-to-movie films I've ever seen, honest.

The casting was brilliant, wonderful, fantastic, every good word there is! I already had a sense that Jennifer and Josh would be great, from the trailer. But, my goodness! I couldn't tell how good Woody would be. He was a lot better than I could have hoped. I already loved Haymitch, and dare I say it? The movie made me love Haymitch more.

The effects were good as well. The only complaint I can think of is the fire for the chariot ride did look a bit cheesy, but I don't think that's their fault.

The fire in the arena looked AMAZING! The dogs looked like computer generated stuff but hey, it's supposed to be like that. It's the Capitol.
Oh and the CAPITOL! The citizens looked BEAUTIFUL! As in that weird kind of beautiful that they are supposed to be. XD

It was an amazing movie, especially the spacial effects. Though the book was 10 time better. It left out important details and moved to quickly.

Actors: Katniss-VERY GOOD, BUT A LITTLE OLD
Gale: Could be better
Peeta: Pretty good

The movie was quite good, the effects made the Capitol look very tech-y. Some parts were disappointing. For me, I disliked how they left out District 11 sending Katniss bread, or never explaining how the mutts looked like the dead tributes. The clothes were amazing. Rue's and Cinna's appearances were different from how most people imagined them, but the actors were very good. There is a little humor in there too, it made the cinema laugh quite a lot when I watched it. Personally, I enjoyed it a lot.

However, the book seemed far better. As the book is told through Katniss's eyes, there is a lot of thought. Sadly, the thoughts could not be made into a movie and had to be left out, which makes the story a little tricky to understand if you haven't read the books.

I reccomend everyone to read the book before watching. It gives a very different impression when you know the story line well, along with what Katniss thought at that time.

I hope you all enjoy the movie! ^^

It might be better if people haven't read the book see the film first and then read the books as there's a lot of detail that didn't get included in the film (as it would of been impossible to include all of it), which seemed to have slightly annoyed some people who had read read the book prior to seeing the film, including myself. Saying that the eagerness to see the film after reading the book is great! =)

I LOVED IT! As a HG superfan, I'd say it followed the book extremely closely, leaving in little details that a hardcore fan would recognize. The casting was superb! Jennifer Lawrence was fantastic. Take that from an actress-she KNEW what she was doing, and really portrayed Katniss. I thought Peeta was great, but had to develop a little more character, however I thought he showed Peeta's personality in the interview scene at the beginning. Gale was okay. I thought he could've been a little more jealous. Prim and Rue were also very good...emotional and innocent. Haymitch was so great! He played Haymitch very well! The effects were good...besides the Mutts, everything looked very realistic. The camerawork really made you feel like you were in The Games.

Thankfully, they ARE in the process of making Catching Fire- it is set to be released November 22nd 2013. Suzanne Collins is helping with the Screenplay again!

Overall, much better than any other book adaptions.

I agree about Peeta and Josh was amazing, he is 100% Peeta. But they cut so many scenes that show us his personality. It should have included more jokes, and the leg thing and the cave scene was not enough showed.

I liked it. It was good book-to-movie. But, I have to say, I was kinda disappointed. Even though it was a three hour movie, it felt rushed. And a lot was missing. I went to go see it with a few of my friends who hadn't read the books. So, they only knew what they'd heard people say about the Hunger Games. They found it a bit confusing, which is understandable. They were asking me questions throughout the movie and I had to explain. So, if you haven't read the book, I think you might find the plot hard to comprehend, and if you have read it, you might be disappointed because it was so rushed and major things-and people-were missing. But over all I was entertained and it was a good movie. I just wish the plot would have come across better and they would have enhanced the whole love-triangle thing. It was a HUGE part in the books and couldn't be found in the movie too much unless you were looking. And knew what you were looking for.

Honestly? I don't think it was that great- I was really expecting more. It just didn't have the depth that i was looking for... it was too rushed and Katniss and Peeta's relationship wasn't developed enough. Just thought it was kinda fakey :/
However i think that Haymitch, Cinna, and Effie were absolutely PERFECT! Haymitch was hilarious, Cinna was super supportive, and Effie was Effie. 'Nuff said.
So guys if you're going to see the movie, you'll probably like it, most people did. Just think it needed a little more work :)

Well, it was fake, at least for katniss. If anyone wants it more romantic wait for catching fire.

Jennifer L was perfect. Josh is how i pictured Peeta, he is just like him. They cut many important scenes between Peeta and Kat in the book, that's why it is not very understanble their connection in the movie, and that's my biggest complain. The leg scene wasnt there and the cave scene is not as tragic as in the book. Rue s relationship with K was rushed. But I loved Effie and Caeser actors, they were perfect.

Yep no one could be a better Peeta than Josh. He pretty much is Peeta, even in real life.

It was awesome!!!!!!!!! Maybe one of the best movies I have ever seen... even though it did have some faults.
I went to one that was IMAX, so after I left the theater, my head was pounding.
The movie, I thought, the beginning was longer than any part in it. The Capital scenes went by fast, as well as all the rest of the movie. Some parts were mixed up or messed up. The Rue scene, I cried and the romance was a minimum.
I enjoyed it a lot!!!!!!!!!!! Everyones gotta watch it!!!!!!!!!

I think it's an extremely mesmerizing film and the casting is pretty much flawless. As has been said over and over, Jennifer was amazing. It took me a while to warm up to Katniss in the books because she can be so prickly and harsh (in fact, I often found myself disliking her quite strongly at certain parts), but it took no time at all for Jennifer to win me over. She perfectly nailed the fine line between strength and vulnerability. She was strong without being cold and vulnerable without being weak, and that's a tough thing to pull off.

That said, my only complaint is that the film has way too many filler scenes of Katniss gazing dramatically into the distance. A lot of time was taken up showing her walking around and looking at things and I felt like they could have used that time to explain what was going on in the world instead. A lot of important details about the Capitol and the Districts were left out and I think it could make it confusing for people who aren't familiar with the books. For instance, they didn't tell the backstory of the Mockingjay (which is a huge deal to me, considering it becomes such a pivotal part of the story) or even mention District 13, and they didn't really explain the scene with Peeta and the bread very well at all.

My Dad, cousin and little sister (none of whom have read the books) have been drowning me in questions all day because the movie confused them. I just feel that, considering it was 2 1/2 hours long, they should have used some of the filler moments to make things a little plainer to the audience.

But other than that, I think it was a really great movie. I appreciated the little winks at the book fans (Katniss's little moment with Buttercup, for instance) and I really loved the way they portrayed the deaths of certain characters. I was far more moved than I expected to be and I'm really looking forward to Catching Fire!

The movie was amazing. However, I expected it to be better. I t was made out to be such a big deal and it was just as big as Breaking Dawn in my opinion. (I do think the Hunger Games had better actors and was better made though.) I don't think it was like the book, but it was still good. This movie was scary, sad, a little funny, and romantic. Although I believe it was over rated, I recommend it to movie fans, but I'd read the book first.
