When katniss is placed on the metal plate for the quell and she is wondering why she is not descending then the doors burst open and peacekeepers force cinna's arms behind him the beat him till he's unconscious

We don't know for sure if he's dead- it never confirms in the books. We all just assume he was killed, 'cause we never hear from him or see him again.
