The Hunger Games Question
The Most Upsetting Part of Mockingjay For Me . . .
. . . was the part on page 339, with the little girl in the yellow coat. Here's her parts:
"I can't, but I've caught the eye of an inquistitive-looking little girl in a lemon yellow coat."
" 'We might need to split up,' I say under my breath. 'There's a girl---' "
"The little girl who was watching me kneels beside a motionless woman, screeching and trying to rouse her. Another wave of bullets slices across the chest of her yellow coat, staining it with red, knocking the girl onto her back. For a moment, looking at her tiny crumpled form, I lose my ability to form words. Gale prods me with his elbow. 'Katniss?' "
For some reason, out of all the deaths in the trilogy, the yellow coat girl's death has always been stuck in my head. Maybe it was how innocent she was and how tragic her death was, maybe because what its toll was on Katniss, not being able to really speak. Anyone would lose their innocence, or in Katniss' case what innocence remained, after seeing something like that.
I hope the Mockingjay director adds that in. Just to see the girl's blood stained coat, Katniss' expression, I think it would really hit home, startle, and amaze the viewers.
