Help me! In the wind waker I don't know how to enlarge my green energy deku!!!

I saw on youtube that energy can be longer than mine. How can I enlarge it? I want to win the contenst near the island with the dragon.

First, go to your home island. Play your Wind Waker to change the wind's direction to east; sail two blocks over in that direction, and you should soon find a flock of seagulls. Go over to the seagulls to fight the octopus/squid creature...thing. XD I won't tell you what happens next~
