Disney to Remake Beauty & the Beast in Live-Action
Post subject: Disney to Remake Beauty & the Beast in Live-Action
Disney is in talks with UK-based writer Joe Ahearne to reinvent its Beauty And The Beast franchise. Ahearne most recently scripted Trance, the film that Danny Boyle directed and then completed between his production of the Opening Ceremonies of the last Summer Olympics in London. This will be live action, and most certainly 3D.
Disney is calling this film The Beast, and considering the subject matter of Trance, indicates that this revisionist take on Beauty and the Beast could be a bit on the dark side.
The film will be produced by Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman and Disney’s LouAnne Brickhouse will steer the project.
Interestingly, Guillermo del Toro is also producing a film based on Beauty & the Beast for Warner Bros starring Emma Watson.
This is not the first Disney has tried to remake Beauty and the Beast.
• There was a musical live-action adaptation of the famous Disney film.
Is Disney\'s live-action studios REALLY having SO much originality problems that they have to literally redo their own movies?
FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIES: Sleeping Beauty, Meet the Robinsons, Enchanted, The Lion King, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo, Brave, and Lilo and Stitch!
There is NO need to remake Beauty and the Beast. Heck, I said that about Alice in Wonderland. I know it is not a remake but I know for a fact that Tim Burton doesn\'t like the disney version anyway.
This is really starting to frustrate me, why do we need remakes of every single film to have a live action remake?
This shouldn\'t be called a remake. It is clearly meant to be a different film, with a different name.
I would rather them make a movie out of the Broadway Edition. I never saw it on Broadway and I think many more might turn out for that in my opinion
I can\'t wait until they Make Hunchback of Notre Dame Live Action where will have CGI Hybrids of the Gargoyles

Well, Joe Wright is doing the Little Mermaid, so we will have a live action movie of sorts, though not Disney.
… The Film That Gave Voice To A Whole Generation …
Yeah, but that was announced like a billion years ago. Is that still happening?

Bill Condon may direct Disney’s live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast’
Forgive my hijacking, but why is this remake being made when there\'s already a French remake of Beauty and the Beast coming out?
So this, the french production, the TV series, Del Toro... Damn you Burton..
Cinderella comes after for Disney, then Oz and Alice again... what did I forget?
This could actually be huge news. If Bill Condon is directing... That means it\'s probably 99% certain it will be an adaptation of the musical. Condon directed Dreamgirls... There\'s no way I see them bringing him on to direct a non-musical adaptation.
Disney, Pixar, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Film fan since 1999
Even a DVD of a recorded Broadway show could be a decent seller. Obviously release it when the show is coming to the end of it\'s run. It\'s not as much as a theatre ticket but it would probably get more people interested in going in the first place.
I just don\'t know what Disney are up too anymore. We don\'t need remakes.
How about some original live action films?
And the science gets done and you make a neat gun.
