One of the most exciting parts about the experience that
X-Men: Apocalypse is looking to generate is the reintroduction to some of our favorite members of the X-Men team. Alexandra Shipp\'s new, younger incarnation of Ororo "Storm" Munroe is one such delight, and not only is she looking forward to showing her powers in Bryan Singer\'s franchise swan song, she\'s also eager to make an appearance in Josh Boone\'s New Mutants.
While speaking with IGN, Shipp made her desire to appear in the X-Men spin-off film readily apparent, and for the following reasons:
I love Storm as a character. I\'d love to reprise her in many different movies and be able to show people different sides of her because she is so multidimensional and I think that the people who love Storm at least as much as I do, really want to see that. We want to see Storm killin\' it and kickin\' ass. That\'s the best thing about her, how amazing and powerful she is. Considering that Storm hasn\'t been seen in action since X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men Apocalypse marks Alexandra Shipp\'s first appearance as the mutant superhero, it wouldn\'t be an unwelcome prospect to see the weather change in her favor. Especially since there will undoubtedly be some heavy ties between New Mutants and the X-Men universe proper, keeping the flame alive from the past. So besides the obvious appearance from Professor X and a select list of "popular mutants", it\'s to be expected that some of the other gifted youngsters around the academy will make an appearance, meaning that Shipp could very well get her wish.
Of course, the public reaction to X-Men: Apocalypse will be crucial to any sort of movement involving Storm\'s future involvement in any X-Men spin-offs. The last time we saw this sort of phenomenon was when Wolverine became the break out hit of the original X-Men film, which lead not only to his inclusion in every other X-Men film, but also lead to his own stand-alone franchise. The bottom line is, Alexandra Shipp\'s portrayal of Storm in this summer\'s X-Men film will have to be the next standout in an already crowded field of mutants, in order to increase her odds of appearing elsewhere in Fox\'s corner of the Marvel universe.
X-Men: Apocalypse tears down the world, in hopes of building a better one, on May 27th.
